Opportunity Description:
Edmond's locally owned newspaper is seeking a student looking to expand his or her working knowledge of advertising.
Benefits to Student:
The student will learn how a newspaper works from start to finish. This will give the student a chance to apply his or her advertising courses to real-life situations.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will be geared toward individual's aptitude, but may include: * Gathering advertising copy * Brainstorming for headlines and ad content * Basic sales * Writing Business of the Week column * Misc. office duties
Requirements:
Student must have completed basic advertising and journalism courses. Must express a desire to learn and a posiitive attitude and be able to meet deadlines.
Training:
Student will work directly with the experienced advertising staff. Any assignments will be turned in by the deadline and the quality of the work will be reviewed.
Time Commitment:
Minimum 12 hours per week

Depending on the student's skill and commitment levels, we will provide the opportunity to learn: *Basic advertising sales skills *Interaction with real clients *Interaction with newspaper staff *How advertising and news staffs work together *Basic advertising design *Importance of deadlines
